Ian graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2010 and gained a First Class (Hons) BSc in Sport and Exercise Science. Ian then completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Physical Education at Loughborough University, gaining QTS in 2011. He has over 12 years’ experience in working within education, which includes mainstream, alternative provision and special schools. The majority of his teaching career has been working within the special education sector and this is an area of work Ian is passionate about.
Ian is keen to ensure that every child has access to a meaningful curriculum that supports their development and provides them with opportunities to celebrate their skills and talents. He is also passionate about ensuring staff receive high quality evidence informed CPD and training to enable them to be the best they can be. Ian has taken up roles as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) and an Evidence Leader in Education (ELE) which provides him with the chance to deliver bespoke training to schools across the country. He is keen to ensure that there is a culture of self-reflection and review and that this is under-pinned by current research and practitioner enquiry.
Ian joined Ivy House School in September 2018, working as the Deputy Headteacher for 3 years before being appointed to the role of Headteacher.
