The Shaw Education Trust is proud to showcase the incredible work of Jackie (Jax), a staff member from Coppice Academy, who is currently undertaking efforts to support people with cancer.

Jackie runs a charity called Pink Sisters and Misters based in Stoke-on-Trent they became a charity in 2019 and are accessible to anyone who has been affected by cancer, currently undergoing any treatment or living with/surviving Cancer. They have face to face meetings, private forums and one to one discussion and support. They also have a static caravan used by the members who are going through treatment, it is a special place for family and patients to make lovely memories together. Pink Sisters & Misters have helped people all over Staffordshire for nearly 10 years!! They went from 12 members to now 25-35 who attended meetings across the city. They also have a social media following of around 5.5k and private account with 500 followers on Facebook. They started as a breast cancer support network but now are open to all cancers, males, and female. Their motto is “Together We Are Stronger."

What started with one meeting per month at Birches Head, has now grown into 6 meeting a month across Staffordshire and completing home visits/hospital visits, telephone/welfare calls, regular awareness events and collaboration with local PCN’s and the hospitals.

To raise a further amount of money for this amazing charity, Rebecca, Gemma, Jax (Founder of Pinks), Janet (events & fundraising for Pinks), Lucy and Natasha will be walking from the beautiful Pink Sisters & Misters drop-in centre in Meir, Stoke-On-Trent to the magnificent Pinks Retreat in Prestatyn.

This is a total of 80 miles in 4 days!! They will start the journey on Tuesday 26th of March and arrive on Friday 29th of March. They will be joined by the ladies in Staffordshire Victoria Football Club who they sponsor. They have been all have been busy in preparation for this mammoth challenge.

“We are excited, maybe a little nervous, to take on this epic challenge for the amazing Pink Sister and Mister. A walk to Wales for the most worthwhile cause. Walking with friends and raising money along the way.”

As a Trust, we are honoured to have Jax as part of the team at Coppice Academy. We are extremely proud of the work she is doing to support those affected by cancer. We would also like to wish the team luck as they embark on the Pinks 2 Prestatyn, Walking All Over Cancer Walk.
