The estates team had a thrilling project on their hands over the summer to build a brand new Shaw Education Trust Training Village. And guess who got to spearhead the operation? Me - Andy Ackerley,

The adventure began after the successful completion of the new SET Headoffice, and it was time to shift our focus to crafting the Training Village. The IOE & KNSTE team had a vision: three cutting-edge teaching rooms with Promethean boards each tailored to accommodate specific capacities – 45-50, 30-36, and 16 individuals. The larger room came with its own set of challenges, requiring food-serving worktops, a revamped kitchen area and even a small office for our amazing team.

To find the perfect location, we surveyed the existing tech room at Kidsgrove Secondary school, conveniently situated next to SET HQ. The initial brief evolved as we realised certain areas needed a bit more love and a few elements had to be replaced to match the high standards set by the new Head office. We decided to go the extra mile, adding a new entrance door with a slick entry system, a fully overhauled kitchen, an instant hot water boiler for events, new flooring, a complete makeover, upgraded blinds, a blocked-up doorway and fresh ceiling tiles for just over half of the building.

Now, here's the kicker! We had a tight deadline of just five weeks to pull off this ambitious project. However, fear not we brought in the experts from Fords of Blythe Bridge Ltd, and together we nailed it! The project not only stayed on schedule but also managed to stay within budget which is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.
